Embodied Trauma Skills for
Caring Professionals
Trauma-Informed Somatic Embodiment Training
(250-Hour Foundations & 500-Hour Professional Pathway)

When you can read the nervous system instead of fix the person, movement becomes medicine and your presence becomes a place to land.
Why Embodied Trauma Skills for Caring Professionals?
Embodied Trauma Skills for Caring Professionals is for people who show up for others and don’t want to abandon themselves in the process. It weaves somatics, trauma-informed practice, mindfulness, and embodied emotional support so you can notice what’s happening in the room — and in your own nervous system — with more clarity, language, and choice.

You’ll learn how to understand what you’re observing and feeling in yourself and others, so you can offer safer practices and explorations rooted in a clear, evidence-informed framework of the nervous system, stress, and trauma.

This training invites you to slow down, listen to the body’s language of sensation and movement, and build a precise, repeatable set of somatic skills you can rely on in real sessions, real groups, and the realities of your own life.
Somatic Training Phases & the 250-Hour Foundations Track
The Training Pathway: 250-Hour Foundations & 500-Hour Professional Track
The 250-Hour Foundations in Trauma-Informed Somatics & Embodied Emotional Support is built around three core phases of Embodied Trauma Skills for Caring Professionals, with structured support between each weekend. Instead of a single course, you’re stepping into an arc: Phases 1–3, plus live labs, somatic meditation, embodied touch literacy, mentoring, and self-study—held inside a clear somatic ecology of practice.
Across all phases you’ll work with trauma-informed principles, nervous system literacy, emotional embodiment, and movement as medicine. Every phase includes Somatic Skills Labs: guided somatic movement, simple touch and containment practices, and Mindful Somatic Meditation woven with real-time practice in trauma-sensitive cueing, pacing, and language.

The 500-hour Professional Track builds on this 250-hour foundation. After Phases 1–3, you can continue into advanced modules in Trauma-Informed Touch, Infant/Developmental Repatterining , Movement for Anxiety & Depression, Mindful Somatic Meditation & Teaching, and professional pieces like running somatic workshops, ethics, business skills, practicum, supervision, and integrative case work. This longer pathway is designed for those who want to offer deep, safe, body-based work professionally, with enough hours to truly embody the skills, not just “learn the tools.”

A Living, Non-Linear Pathway
The training is designed as a living, non-linear pathway that can fit around your life, work, and nervous system. Phases are taken in order (Phase 1 → Phase 2 → Phase 3), but they don’t have to be completed in one rigid block. You can step into a phase when your schedule and system can genuinely hold it, then rejoin the next phase or advanced module when the timing is right.

Part of decolonizing somatic spaces is letting go of the idea that learning has to be fast, standardized, and disembodied. This training invites a different rhythm: cyclical, relational, sometimes messy, and always grounded in real bodies and real lives.
Roots & Branches:
Your Somatic Training Pathway
From first roots to full canopy, this training blends Somatic Skills Labs, practice circles, peer work, mentoring, and embodied self-study into a trauma-informed ecology of practice that lives in your nervous system, not just your notes.

Phase 1 – Somatic Literacy & Movement Awakening
84 hours
Phase 1 is root work. We slow down and listen underneath the noise so you can feel how sensation, emotion, and movement already move through your BodyMind. Alongside gentle somatic practices and trauma-informed principles, you’ll get bite-sized nervous system and brain teaching—including access to my online class Trauma & the Brain and The Somatics of Hope—so you can understand why your system does what it does and begin to meet it with kindness. You start to meet your body as resource and movement as medicine, creating the rich soil for everything that follows.
Here, the seeds of your scope of practice and ethical ground are planted—learning how to speak about what you do, what you don’t do, and how to honour your own body as part of the work.

Phase 2 – Relational Somatics & Nervous System Rhythms
83 hours
Phase 2 is where the field widens from me to we. We explore how nervous systems speak to each other through posture, breath, tone, and shifts in state, drawing on polyvagal-informed maps and the neurobiology of threat and defence. You learn to recognize activation and collapse in real time and to meet trauma responses with kind, body-based, trauma-informed support.
We weave in simple embodied art therapy—mark-making, mapping inner states, and linking thinking/feeling/sensing back to movement—so you can see and feel patterns from new angles. Here, core somatic competencies deepen: reading the room, co-regulating ethically, and practising relational skills that become the backbone of how you hold space in sessions, groups, and daily life.

Phase 3 – Integrative Somatic Practice & Applied Movement Facilitation
83 hours
Phase 3 is where threads braid into branches. You start weaving somatic awareness, movement sequences, touch literacy, and mindful presence into real sessions and group offerings. We keep one eye on the nervous system and brain—how learning, repetition, and relationship support neuroplastic change—while exploring how to hold a room, tend boundaries and ethics, and bring in simple business and client-care skills so your somatic ecology can live as a grounded, sustainable practice in the world.
Here, your standards of practice take shape—how you design sessions, care for clients, care for yourself, and step into the world as a practitioner with both heart and structure.
A neuroscience-informed, trauma-aware somatic pathway that blends nervous system education, movement, touch literacy, mindful meditation, peer practice, mentoring, and embodied self-study—designed to land in your tissues, not just in your notes.
Branches – The 500-Hour Professional Pathway
Each branch begins in your own soma: practices you experience, repeat, and integrate in your body first. From there, we shape them into fully supported classes and workshops—with teaching frameworks, sample sequences, and participant handouts you can adapt for your own communities.

Embodied Touch for Nervous System Support & Reorganization
This branch deepens touch as a refined language of support, not a fix. You’ll learn consent-centred, fully clothed touch skills that invite settling, reorganization, and new movement options in the nervous system, always grounded in safety, choice, and clear scope of practice. You experience the touch work in your own body, then learn how to translate it into sessions, classes, and workshops with clear teaching material and handouts.
Infantile & Developmental
Re-Patterning & Movement
Here we return to the earliest movement stories of the body—rolling, reaching, pushing, creeping, rooting. You’ll explore how unfinished or interrupted patterns can echo through adult posture, emotion, and relationship, and how gentle, playful re-patterning can bring more coherence and confidence from the ground up. You first meet these patterns in your own body, then receive structures for building developmental-themed classes and workshops, complete with outlines and participant resources.
Moving Through Body Systems – Bringing the BodyMind into Coherence
This branch invites you to move with and through different body systems—bones, fascia, organs, fluids, breath, and skin—as a way of gathering yourself. You’ll learn movement practices and imagery that help clients feel more whole, less fragmented, and more resourced from the inside out. The material is explored personally and then expanded into teachable series and workshop formats, with clear maps and handouts you can bring to your own groups.

Additional Learning
Mindful Movement for Anxiety & Depression
Here we meet anxiety and depression as body states, not personal failures. You’ll develop movement and mindful somatic sequences that support stuck energy, collapse, agitation, and numbness with care. The focus is on small, doable practices that honour nervous system pace while gently widening what feels possible. You’ll embody these practices yourself first, then learn how to shape them into classes and themed workshops, supported by sample sequences, scripts, and client/participant handouts.
Conscious & Integrity-Based Business Skills (for a Post-Capitalist Imagination)
This branch tends the practical side of your ecology of practice without abandoning your values. We explore pricing, boundaries, policies, collaboration, and sustainability through a trauma-informed, anti-extractive lens. You’ll shape a practice that can support your livelihood, respect your limits, and contribute to communities and futures you actually believe in. Along the way, you’ll receive templates, planning tools, and example class/workshop structures so the work you love can also be held with clarity and support

Ongoing Somatic Skills Labs
Alongside the 250-hour Foundations and 500-hour professional pathway, you’ll have access to ongoing Somatic Skills Labs—live spaces to practise, refine, and play with what you’re learning in real time. These labs are where theory gets translated into voice, timing, and presence in an actual room.

Cueing from the Inside Out
Movement beyond modality. In this lab we practise cueing from our own soma rather than from scripts—meeting bodies in real time and real space. You’ll explore trauma-informed, nervous-system-aware cueing that invites curiosity instead of performance, and learn how to language movement so it lands in the tissues, not just the intellect.

Dreaming to Doing: Building Trauma-Informed Somatic Workshops
This lab is for turning ideas into offerings. We’ll move from spark to structure: clarifying who you want to serve, shaping a workshop arc, weaving in movement, nervous system education, and mindful somatic practices, and building in safety, pacing, and consent. You leave with a draft workshop or class plan, plus templates and handout ideas you can adapt for your own communities.

Somatic Ecology
Educators, Mentors & Guides

PHASE 1
Foundations in Somatic Literacy & Movement Awakening
Building Your Somatic Foundations
Phase 1 invites you back into real relationship with your body. We start with your nervous system and everyday life, not performance or perfection. You learn to track sensation, emotion, and movement with curiosity instead of criticism, so you’re not overriding or abandoning yourself. The thread through it all is simple: body as resource, movement as medicine, and a trauma-informed ecology of practice you can lean on personally and, over time, bring into your work with others.

Somatic Skills Labs
Each training weekend includes Somatic Skills Labs: guided somatic movement explorations, simple self-touch and containment practices (touch literacy, not techniques), and Mindful Somatic Meditation micro-practices. These labs help you sense how stress, habit, and history move through your body, practise real-time nervous system regulation, and experiment with trauma-informed language and pacing in a supported learning environment.

Hours & Structure – Phase 1 (84 hours total)
-
51 hours – in-person class time over three weekends
-
8 hours – live online practice labs and short lectures
-
6 hours – guided peer practice sessions
-
3 hours – small-group mentoring and integration
-
16 hours – structured personal practice, self-study, and written reflection
PHASE 2
Relational Somatics & Nervous System Rhythms
Phase 1 lays the groundwork. We start by orienting your own nervous system and building somatic literacy:
-
explore the difference in trauma-conscious, trauma-sensitive and trauma-informed
-
tracking sensation, emotion, and movement in your own body
-
learning clear, non-pathologizing language for what you notice
-
practicing gentle, accessible somatic movement and rest
You begin to understand your body as part of the room’s ecology, not as something you have to override to be “professional.”

Approximate hours for Phase 1 within the 250-hour track:
-
34 hours – in-person training (two weekends)
-
12 hours – live online labs & integration circles
-
14 hours – personal practice, self-study & reflection
≈ 60 hours total

PHASE 3
Integrative Somatic Practice & Applied Movement Facilitation
What We Focus On
Phase 3 is where the work starts to live in your hands, voice, and timing. You begin to offer short “mini-sessions” and group explorations, grounded in scope of practice, boundaries, and realistic next steps for real people.

Movement Labs
You’ll design and test short movement-based sequences and micro-practices, learning how to adapt them for different bodies, capacities, and trauma histories while staying anchored in your own movement and breath.

Professional Hours (within the 250-hr track)
34 hours – in-person training (two weekends)
12 hours – live online labs & integration circles
20 hours – personal practice, self-study, practicum & group supervision
≈ 66 hours total
